(We checked with Bentley, they’re not ever supposed to be there.) But hey, if you’re wealthy, you may as well do it right, you know? Actually, we’re thinking this guy lost a bet with his Ferrari buddies and was forced to transform his six-figure Conti into a Tiburon wannabe. Sigh…

Though not a radical new design direction for Honda, it’s a handsomely-done Camry competitor that should age well.

The Neucleus NC-X2i is a control module that allows you to not only connect your iPod to your factory head unit, but also to listen to audio from video sources, gaming devices, or any portable audio product, including MP3 players, DVD players, and PS2. Full iPod playlist functions are usable through factory XM receiver head units and steering wheel control functions are retained. The NC-X2i retains the use of the factory CD changer and XM Satellite radio while adding the functions of the X2i. The unit also generates an (ACC) + 12-volt line for secondary auxiliary inputs.

The installation part only takes 15 mins to get up and running.. I had to unplug my xm cable and use special T Adapter plug back into the factory XM and the Neucleus and 2 mins later i had Ipod working with my factory radio.

Saw this on bloomberg.com today why am i not shocked? Well could it be due to the fact that i hate anything Sony related this company has been spoon feeding us garbage for the last 40 years. I for one think that the Nintendo’s WII is a much better unit it does what it’s purpose is gaming console for the whole family to interact with. Why do i need to spend $600 dollars on console that its main purpose is just for Sony to start pushing its Blu-Ray Format — hrmm i can smell yet another betamax war happing again. Don’t get me wrong Sony makes decent products but they’ve pushed so much garbage in the last 5 years — Example I POD killer — with the re-birth of the Sony Digital Walkman using Sony’s Digital Mp3 Like Format — that sucked .. thats just one of the many devices that have failed.. Also lets not forget the recent Notebook battery issue’s that have been plaguing Apple, Dell and Many other PC company’s that purchase there cell’s from Sony. Honestly i think Sony should start re-thinking about where it wants to focus — lets not try and concur 50 things at the same time — Your not Microsoft . I will be staying way from buying PS3 and getting Wii 1. its cheap 2. games are cool looking 3. games are cheap as well. Thats just my 2cents …

Source from: bloomberg.com
Dec. 8 (Bloomberg) — Sony Corp. missed its target for PlayStation 3 consoles in the U.S. last month after parts shortages slowed production and allowed Nintendo Co.’s Wii to take sales, researcher NPD Group Inc. estimated.

The PlayStation 3, introduced in the U.S. on Nov. 17, sold 197,000 units, falling short of Sony’s 400,000 goal. The Wii, which made its debut two days later, sold 476,000 units, Port Washington, New York-based NPD said in an e-mail yesterday.

Sony, the world’s second-largest consumer electronics maker, today reiterated a plan to ship 6 million PlayStation 3s by March 2007, including 1 million each in Japan and the U.S. by this year. Tokyo-based Sony, which said in November it was airlifting consoles to the U.S. to meet demand, named Kaz Hirai to replace PlayStation creator Ken Kutaragi to run the games division.

“There’s no way that Sony will make its forecast for 1 million units in the U.S. this calendar year,'’ said Evan Wilson, an analyst at Pacific Crest Securities in Portland, Oregon, who rates Sony shares “sector perform.'’ “They will face supply constraints at least through March.'’

Nanako Kato, a Tokyo-based spokeswoman at Sony Computer Entertainment, declined to comment on NPD’s estimates. Kato said Sony is sticking to its shipment plans for the PlayStation 3.

The Wii, which features a motion-sensor controller that replicates users’ moves onscreen, benefits from its $250 price, half the cost of the cheapest PlayStation 3.

Christmas Sales

Sony’s U.S.-traded shares rose 37 cents to $40.27 at 10:52 a.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. Shares of Nintendo rose 1.4 percent to 27,680 yen in Osaka.

Sony’s 1.75 percent notes due in 2015 fell 0.168 to 99.007, according to Japan Securities Dealers Association. The decline pushed up the yields on the bonds to 1.879 percent. The yen- denominated securities have declined from 99.459 since last week.

“Well more than a million Wii systems'’ will be available in the U.S. by the end of the year, Kyoto, Japan-based Nintendo said in a statement yesterday. The company sold about 372,000 units in the first two days in Japan, said Enterbrain Inc., a Tokyo-based video game researcher and magazine publisher.

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata yesterday reiterated the company’s forecast of selling 6 million Wii consoles worldwide by March. The company expects to sell 4 million Wii consoles globally by Dec. 31, including 50,000 units in Australia, where the player went on sale yesterday.

The company, which is shipping 250,000 Wiis to the U.S. each week, hasn’t been keeping up with demand, said Anita Frazier, an analyst at NPD.

“I have no doubt that many more could have sold if there had been more inventory,'’ she said.

Nice Rebound

In November, Microsoft Corp. sold 511,000 units of its Xbox 360, which began selling a year ago, according to NPD.

The Redmond, Washington-based company may exceed its forecast to sell 10 million Xbox 360s by the end of the year, on a “very strong Thanksgiving holiday,'’ Peter Moore, a vice president, said on Dec. 5.

The Xbox 360 “rebounded nicely'’ from a slow summer because of Sony’s problems and Microsoft’s release of “Gears of War,'’ Pacific Crest’s Wilson said. That was the top-selling console game in November, with 1 million units sold, according to NPD.

In its first month on the market in November 2005, Xbox 360 did a better job at selling games than PlayStation 3 did in its first month, according to Microsoft spokeswoman Molly O’Donnell. One Xbox 360 debut title, “Call of Duty 2′’ sold more copies in November 2005 than Sony’s entire portfolio of games sold in November 2006, she said.

Sony’s PlayStation 2, introduced in 2000, was more popular than all three of the newer machines, selling 664,000 units in the month.

When website is posted to the front page of Digg, the amount of requests to the server will usually take down small sites running on relatively low end hardwares (small RAM, slow CPU, HDD). To prevent this from happening to your site (specifically, WP blogs), there are things you can do to maximize what low end hardwares can manage, and therefore prevent the Digg Effect.

1) Cache it: WP-Cache 2.0

A very-easy-to-install-and-use plugin. By creating cached pages, it reduce the php code parsed by the web server, and also eliminate the query to mysql database. Both speeds up the page load dramatically.

2) eAccelerator: cache php pages at compiled level, which means your php codes will stil be executed. Much faster than no cache at all.

3) Apache 2: MPM Worker

Using this method in Apache will help a bit since version 1.3 wasn’t design with threading in mind while 2.0 has included this new feature along with Caching methods that i can help alot. This quote from apache.org regarding Mpm Worker ” This Multi-Processing Module (MPM) implements a hybrid multi-process multi-threaded server. By using threads to serve requests, it is able to serve a large number of requests with less system resources than a process-based server. Yet it retains much of the stability of a process-based server by keeping multiple processes available, each with many threads.” In order to use the php module, you need to compile it with thread safety.

4) Random Notes

Some of the tips i’m listing here have been used on various different wordpress sites which i manage but the one miss fact that people forget is that hardware plays big key to how you handle this. The average home computer isn’t able to sustain this amount of traffic in long term period thats why i’m true fan of the Dell Power edge Line - 750’s, SC1425’s , 1850’s , and 1950’s when dealing with the beast wordpress you want to try and keep the os and everything and applications as lean as possible. In the various setups i’ve used Freebsd 5 - 6 and Beta 7 all work well if your box is tuned for it. I do notice that linux has slight gain in performance but this is due to the fact that mysql out of the box is well tuned for Linux vs BSD but if you try new method that was introduced by jeremy.zawodny on his blog by enabling libthr.

For FreeBSD 6 tests show that using libthr gives the best performance (search on the net for some benchmarks).
To use libthr, just download the precompiled mysql for FreeBSD 6, and add the following lines to your /etc/libmap.conf :

[mysqld]
libpthread.so.2 libthr.so.2
libpthread.so libthr.so

After that restart your mysqld, and from then on it should be using libthr.

If that still doesn’t help — then copy your page and make it static and add rule to your .htaccess to force it to the static page..

well thats it for my tips.
